Digital practice through a social-science lens
Amir co-authored “Working with BIM: are we really doing it, and who is counting?” for the sixth international workshop When Social Science Meets Lean & BIM at the University of Huddersfield in January 2018. With Dave Moore, Mani Poshdar, James Rotimi, Jas Qadir and Ali Ghaffarianhoseini, the work questioned assumptions about BIM uptake in New Zealand and how digital practice is measured across construction.
Understanding adoption beyond headline figures
Drawing on repeated surveys of incoming construction-management students at AUT between 2012 and 2017, the contribution examined differences between reported sector growth and practitioners’ knowledge and experience. It called for a more careful sociotechnical understanding of BIM integration.
