The story

Auckland wind comfort through fieldwork and simulation

Research co-authored by Professor Amir with Saghar Hashemi, Ali Ghaffarianhoseini, Nicola Naismith, Mattheos Santamouris and Hideki Kikumoto examined pedestrian-level wind in Auckland through field surveys and computational fluid dynamics. It connects the experience of outdoor spaces with detailed analysis of urban wind conditions.

An international research connection

The University of Tokyo’s Institute of Industrial Science includes the co-authored study in Kikumoto Lab’s 2024 annual research record. The paper, “Pedestrian-level wind speed analysis: a case study,” was first published online in November 2024.
