The story

Research reaching practice

Related school-water design and decision-support publications cite Professor Amir’s rainwater-harvesting review.

How the research was used

The 2023 decision-support study uses the review when explaining rainwater harvesting’s potential contribution to water supply, before assessing school cases in Eastern Cape and Gauteng. A subsequent design chapter carries the evidence into discussion for school governing bodies, teachers, designers and officials. These related outputs are grouped as one research-to-design connection.

The documented contribution

2023 study: printed page 5, section 2.1 · 2024 chapter: institutional draft page 2. The review supports the water-supply rationale. The SWARUM modeller specifications are attributed to other research; Professor Amir is not credited with its algorithm, tool or school installations.
